The Impact

Millennial Education was founded after our Founder, Tyra Eli, recognized a critical gap in educational support within her community—one she experienced firsthand. Growing up in an underserved neighborhood and graduating from a Dallas ISD high school, Tyra often had to seek academic and career support outside of her community to access opportunities that led to her success. That lived experience now drives her commitment to ensuring today’s students and families have the guidance and resources she once had to find on her own.

Percent of 3rd grade students below reading Level

Tracking students’ reading progress in the early grades is critical because third grade marks a pivotal shift from learning to read to reading to learn. By this point, students are expected to use reading skills to access content across all subjects, including math, science, and social studies. When students fall behind early and do not receive timely support, learning gaps often widen each year, making academic recovery more difficult and increasing the risk of long-term challenges.

High School Students attending College right after high sSchool

Many students do not enroll in college immediately after high school because they are unaware of available resources that support college preparation and affordability. Parents play a critical role in this process, yet 80% of parents surveyed by Millennial Education reported they are not knowledgeable about post–high school resources and need support to effectively guide their students. This highlights the importance of student guidance paired with family education to improve postsecondary outcomes.

2025 Millennial Education Program Participation

Millennial Education addresses these gaps by providing personalized academic support, mentoring, and career readiness programming that empowers students and families to thrive.

Across Dallas ISD, many students and families continue to lack access to the academic support and information needed to thrive:

  • 52% of third graders do not meet grade-level expectations in reading

  • 1 in 4 students require additional reading support, and 1 in 5 students need math intervention

  • 2 out of 10 high school students do not graduate on time—8.5% below the state average

These realities underscore the urgent need for early academic intervention, mentorship, and family-centered support. Millennial Education exists to close these gaps by equipping underserved students and their families with the educational and career resources needed for long-term success.
